Voters overwhelmingly approved the »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµ District of Albany’s budget for the 2025-26 school year, with more than 80% of voters saying “yes” for the third year in a row.

With unofficial results reported Tuesday night, 81% of voters supported the district’s $342.4 million budget, which includes a 0.9% tax-levy increase. The approval percentage is the second-highest in the district’s history, less than only the 83% approval percentage a year ago.

President Sridar Chittur, Ph.D., also won re-election to a third four-year term on the Board of Education. Austin Wolfgang also won election to the board in a three-way race for two seats. Dr. Chittur and Wolfgang will begin their new terms July 1. 

Two school-related propositions also won strong approval:

  • Proposition #2 – 83% approval 
    • The proposal will provide air conditioning upgrades at three elementary schools: Montessori Magnet School, New Scotland Elementary »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµand Sheridan Preparatory Academy
  • Proposition #3 – 89% approval
    • To sell a small vacant piece of land in the South End for no less than $1,000
