Literature came to life for North Albany Middle ƹƵMonday!

Award-winning graphic novelist Jerry Craft began his three-day tour of the district with grade level presentations followed by

Craft shared with the students that he writes books that he wishes he had as a child - stories with a Black protagonist that aren’t historic or tragic and, most importantly, books with characters to whom our students can relate. Craft is a New York Times bestselling author of “New Kid,” “Class Act” and "ƹƵTrip," and the first graphic novelist to win both the prestigious Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Author Award.

He will meet with Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle ƹƵstudents on Tuesday and William S. Hackett Middle ƹƵstudents on Wednesday.

Additionally, “Family Literacy Night with Jerry Craft" will be tomorrow (Tuesday) from 6-8 p.m. at Hackett. The event is open to readers from middle school to adulthood who are connected to Hackett, North Albany or Myers.
