
Newcomer Summer School
Newcomer Summer »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµis designed to help newly arrived students develop beginning English language skills by delivering appropriate content area instruction, with specific language support. The program will also support students as they acclimate to the U.S. school system, while also building and strengthening our students’ native language skills.
Please note that this program is enrolled based on academic criteria and proficiency level.
All eligible students will be provided with an application by their ENL teacher.
Students who are English language learners currently in grades K-10 with a proficiency level of entering and emerging are invited to attend.

Program structure
Newcomer Summer »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµwill have a strong emphasis on teaching literacy skills while also teaching vital life skills necessary for navigation within the school and community. This program will provide an academic-rich day that fosters the understanding of local civics, while also providing social emotional support to all students.
Attendance and behavior
Participation is critical to student success in the program and will be documented. Staff will be reaching out on a regular basis to ensure that students are completing work.
As per the district attendance policy, students who exceed three absences will not receive credit for summer courses.
Students will be held to behavioral expectations and consequences of the district Code of Conduct.
Transportation
Students who live 1.5 or more miles away may be eligible for transportation (yellow bus for K-5, CDTA bus passes for grades 6-11).
Meals
Breakfast and lunch are provided each day as part of the program.
